From the 18 to 19 June 2024, CAFOD (Catholic Agency for Oversees Development) met with partners for the ACAP (African Church Advocacy Programme) annual reflection and discernment meeting. The purpose of this annual reflection meeting was to review and adapt the ACAP strategy. The reflection involved taking stock of what has happened, revisiting basic assumptions of the ACAP and whether outcome pathways are unfolding as expected. All the partners who attending the meeting gave presentations of their achievements and challenges in the first year of the ACAP strategy implementation. This meeting was also a platform for collaboration and integration of partners’ projects and ensure progress towards delivery of high-quality projects and identify opportunities to improve the programme approaches.
The meeting had four objectives:
1. To assess whether we are working in line with the ACAP goal and outcomes and whether this gets us where we need to be for delivery and impact of the programme.
2. To maximise the benefit and linkages of partnership within and around the programme.
3. To develop a MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning) framework
4. Assess our critical learning questions by looking back one year and forward three years.
This annual reflection and discernment meeting was a big success and IMBISA being one of the partners that participated in this meeting benefitted a lot and we are really grateful to Mwila, Verity, Kayode and the whole CAFOD team for such a fertile opportunity for collaboration of Church advocacy in Africa.
