IMBISA Standing Committee Meeting  held its meeting in Harare

The IMBISA Standing Committee Meeting  held its 83rd meeting from March 16-19, 2026, at its headquarters in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The objective of the meeting was to fulfill another agenda item of the ordinary meetings and at the same time to conduct a general evaluation of the activities carried out last year, highlighting the celebration of its 50th anniversary (Golden Jubilee), which took place in Manzini in September of last year, along with the 14th plenary session, which resulted in a new executive. One of the points of the meeting was also the presentation of new delegate members from the Episcopal Conferences to the Standing Committee Meeting and a special focus on the Holy Father’s visit to Angola in April 2026.

The Council also stressed that it was a moment of much dialogue, of qualified exchange of ideas, of updating on the relevant events of each Conference and the common search to share the difficulties and joys of the local Churches, which lays another foundation in the trajectory of participatory management of the institution and in the increasingly evident presence of synodality in the life of the Church.
