IMBISA joyfully joins the Church in celebrating the inauguration of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, held on 18 May 2025, in St. Peter’s Square, Rome.
Pope Leo’s homily, delivered with humility and pastoral warmth, set the tone for his pontificate. He reminded the world of the Gospel’s core message: _“This is the hour for love! The heart of the Gospel is the love of God that makes us brothers and sisters.”_ This message holds special significance for the IMBISA region, where many communities continue to strive for peace, unity, and justice.
Drawing from his Augustinian spirituality, the Pope emphasized the importance of service and compassion over power. He acknowledged the global wounds caused by violence, prejudice, and economic injustice, and called for a renewed commitment to fraternity and care for the most vulnerable.
In welcoming the new pontiff, IMBISA reflects on the words of Christ: _“You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church.”_ Pope Leo XIV now takes up this sacred responsibility as the successor of Peter, a shepherd to the Church, and a sign of unity in a divided world.
IMBISA offers its heartfelt congratulations and prayers for Pope Leo XIV, entrusting his ministry to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. As the region continues its journey of faith, it looks forward to walking in communion with the Holy Father, inspired by his call to love, serve, and build a reconciled world.
