Pope Leo XIV appoints Fr. Lawrence Pheto as Bishop of Francistown, Botswana
It is with immense joy and grateful hearts that IMBISA received the news of the appointment of Bishop Lawrence Ofentse Pheto as the new and third Pastor of the Diocese of Francistown, Botswana, made by Pope Leo XIV, today, April 10, 2026.
We thank God for this gift and for his “yes” to the mission. We welcome Bishop Lawrence into the IMBISA regional family with great joy, ready to walk together as a synodal Church, united in faith and service.
We ask the entire regional community – priests, religious, lay people – to pray for him, that the Holy Spirit may enlighten him in this new mission.
