Bishop Constantino becomes bishop of new diocese in Mozambique

It is with immense joy that IMBISA welcomes new developments in the Church in Mozambique.

The Holy Father created a new diocese, the Diocese of Caia, by taking territory from the Archdiocese of Beira and the Dioceses of Quelimane, Tete and Chimoio. The Diocese of Caia is a suffragan of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Beira.

Pope Leo XIV appointed as its first ordinary Bishop António Manuel Bogaio Constantino, MCCJ. Until now Bishop Constantino was auxiliary bishop of Beira.

With his degree in journalism and licentiate in integral communication, he was appointed the bishop responsible for media at the October 2025 plenary session of IMBISA in Manzini, Eswatini.

May the Lord abundantly bless him in this mission of shepherding the flock of Caia with wisdom, love and discernment.

May we build a more united and evangelizing Church in the IMBISA region, reflecting the love of Christ in every gesture of hospitality and sharing.
