“We are appealing for support in cash or kind as we were caught unaware and the cost of renovating the hostel is very high. The school has been put under pressure as we have to find alternative accommodation for the affected learners who need to continue with their studies.” Mr. Mukoyi

Government officials including resident Minister Mrs. Mary Mliswa Chikoka, the PED Mr. Dzveta, minister Ziyambi Ziyambi and alumni also paid a visit to the school and assured the parents and the school of state assisted intervention. The 185 affected learners were given two weeks break until 26 September 2022. The break was approved by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to accord time for psychological healing for the learners. The fire which is suspected to have started from the hostel’s TV room reduced the building to a ramshackle.

Though no life was lost in the incident and no injuries were sustained, the students lost all their belongings to the incident and this occurred barely a week after schools had opened for the third term.
