By IMBISA Communications

On Monday, 04 April 2022, it was made public that the Holy Father Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Ernesto Maguengue as the new bishop of the Diocese of Inhambane in Mozambique after accepting the resignation, from the same See, of Bishop Adriano Langa OFM who had reached the normal age of retirement for Bishops. Bishop Ernesto Maguengue has been, until now, the Auxiliary Bishop of Nampula.

The IMBISA Secretariat welcomes the news of his appointment with joy and would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Bishop Ernesto Maguengue on his appointment as well as the people of God in the Diocese of Inhambane, which now has a new pastor.

Bishop Ernesto , being a member of the Episcopal Conference of Mozambique, is the Bishop responsible for the Department of Education and the Family within the Conference, and has proved to be an active and committed Episcopal Head to the development of the Church and Society in general in this area.
