IMBISA Standing Committee to meet in Harare for 81st meeting and Jubilee Celebrations

The IMBISA Standing Committee will convene in Harare for its 81st meeting from 27 to 28 March 2025. IMBISA, with its headquarters located in Harare, will follow this meeting with a special Jubilee Mass on Saturday, 29 March 2025, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart at 9:00 AM. This significant event will celebrate five decades of IMBISA’s mission to foster communion, promote peace, and serve communities across Southern Africa.

The official opening of the Jubilee celebrations took place in May 2024 in Eswatini. While the Jubilee Mass in Harare will be a highlight, the main festivities for IMBISA’s 50th anniversary will occur later in 2025, during the 14th IMBISA Plenary Assembly in September in Eswatini. This gathering will offer an opportunity for the Church in the region to reflect on the past fifty years and look forward to the future, reaffirming its commitment to service, peace, and solidarity throughout Southern Africa.

The theme for the Jubilee is “IMBISA Golden Jubilee: A synodal journey, nourished by compassion and blossoming in faith as pilgrims of hope: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
