Celebrating sixty years of CMRS in Zimbabwe

On August 31, 2024, the Diocese of Gweru hosted the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Conference of Major Religious Superiors (CMRS) Zimbabwe, marking sixty years of dedicated service. Held under the theme “Pilgrim of Hope on the Path to Peace,” the event brought together a distinguished group of guests, including leaders from religious conferences.

The celebrations were honored by the presence of Archbishop Janusz Stanisław Urbańczyk, the Apostolic Nuncio to Zimbabwe; ZCBC President Bishop Paul Horan; and Bishop Rudolf Nyandoro of Gweru. Their attendance highlighted the significance of the occasion and underscored the profound impact of the CMRS’s contributions to peace and community development in Zimbabwe.

The IMBISA Secretariat was also well represented at the event, with Fr. Gilbert Chibira, Fr. Antonio Cachingona, and Ms. Brenda Gwasira conveying their congratulations and solidarity with the CMRS community. In their congratulatory message, the IMBISA Secretariat not only celebrated the CMRS’s achievements but also took the opportunity to announce their own forthcoming milestone: IMBISA’s upcoming jubilee celebration in Eswatini in 2025. As IMBISA prepares for its jubilee, the unity and shared purpose demonstrated at the Gweru celebrations will continue to inspire collective mission and mutual support in the years to come.
