Empowering youth as agents of peace and hope

The Inter-Regional Meeting of Bishops of Southern Africa (IMBISA) is set to host a youth meeting in Pretoria, South Africa. The meeting’s theme is “Empowering youth as agents of peace and hope in IMBISA: Christus Vivit as a point of reference”. It is scheduled to take place at Padre Pio Retreat Centre in Pretoria; South Africa from 13 to 17 November 2023.

The meeting will be attended by youth representatives and chaplains from the nine member countries of IMBISA namely; Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Sao Tome and Principe, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. The presence of young people from these diverse nations will foster a rich exchange of ideas, experiences, and perspectives, creating a truly inclusive and collaborative environment. The focus areas for this meeting are drug abuse, entrepreneurship, Laudate Deum, mental health, family roles and responsibilities, Christus Vivit, and the World Youth Day (WYD) 2023 Lisbon celebrations.

The IMBISA youth meeting is an excellent opportunity for young people to come together to discuss issues that are important to them. The meeting will provide a platform for young people to share their experiences and insights and to learn from each other. By empowering young people as agents of peace and hope, we can create a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come.
