The IMBISA Secretariat communicates, with pain and regret, the death of His Excellency Most Reverend Bishop Manuel Chuanguira Machado, the bishop Emeritus of Gurué Diocese. Bishop Manuel died on 11 October 2023 at the Central Hospital in Quelimane and he will be buried on Wednesday 18 October 2023.
Bishop Manuel Chuanguira was born on 11 June 1950 and was ordained a priest on 13 December 1981 in Beira, Mozambique. On 6 December 1993, he was appointed the bishop of Gurue and ordained on 22 may 1994. Due to poor health he resigned from the bishop of Gurue on 9 October 2009.
The IMBISA Secretariat stands together with the Episcopal Conference of Mozambique (CEM) in these difficult moment and we continue to pray for his soul to rest in peace.
